Hi folks,
Today we took some time getting a hand's on look at the seasons and the effect of the position of the Sun to the temperature of the Earth.
There is no recording this week since most of the class was spent doing activities.
For homework next week:
Do questions 10 - 20 on page 687.
Also, tackle one of the following thought problems. If you do both you'll get up to 10 points of extra credit.
1. What would happen if the Earth stopped spinning? Imagine that, for some reason, life still exists and everything else remains the same. only the Earth is no longer spinning.
2. What if, instead of the Earth spinning with a 23 degree angle, the Earth spins with a 90 degree angle to the sun. How would that affect things.
Things to consider in your answer for both of the above questions.
How is day/night affected?
How are seasons affected?
How is the moon cycle and it's phases affected?
What affect would it have on animal or plant life?
What affect would it have on our perception of time?
In your answer you can set whether this change of the Earth's rotation happened quickly or if it's just the way things have always been.
