3/24 Earth Science update and homework due 3/31

Hi folks,

Today we continued talking a look at our nearest celestial body by exploring the moon and its phases.

Two things for homework this week:

1.  I described this in class but here it is again.  Each evening, stand in the same spot and use the same reference point each night (tree branch, chimney) to compare the moon to.  Each night this week, at about the same time, observe the moon's position in the sky and observe the phase.  Take a picture if you can.  Notice if the Moon is in a different location each night, and, if so, how is that location changing.

2.  Go to this website http://astro.unl.edu/naap/lps/lps.html and click on "Lunar Phase Simulator"
Use the simulator to complete pages 5/11 to 10/11 in the .pdf.  By the time you are done with this you should have a very nice understanding for the relationship between the Moon, Sun, Earth and their interactions.
